UPDATE STORY LINK, JANUARY 23 2011: CLASSROOM WINS LIQUOR LICENCE
Fresh from their recent town planning approval, owners of a mooted North Perth bar called The Classroom have lobbed in a liquor licence application.
Chef Daniel Sterpini (left) and bartender Adam Keane had the usual hassles getting their bar plans through the City of Vincent, with urban planners initially resisting the idea.
However, after oneperth.com.au revealed the planners’ reticence, Sterpini and Keane withdrew their application, amended it, and the bureaucrats had a change of heart.
A liquor licence application advertised today promises the Charles Street cafe-cum-bar will educate punters on fine dining and drink.
In keeping with this educative theme, The Classroom will allow Parents’ and Citizens’ committees of local schools to sell fundraising cakes from the premises.
The venue will include a children’s play area to provide respite for visiting mothers, and feature recycled school furniture.
The owners believe the furniture will create a “fun and inviting trip down memory lane for customers and locals alike”.
Sterpini and Keane hope to open the bar by the end of 2011.
They plan to operate from 7am to midnight Mondays to Saturdays, and 7am to 10pm on Sundays.
