Shopping mall upskirt charge

A 56-year-old man stands accused of fashioning a crude device to take photos up women’s skirts at Karrinyup Shopping Centre yesterday afternoon.

The man was at the mall at 5.10pm on 14 February 2011 when witnesses allegedly observed him with a camera pen attached to a roll of wrapping paper.

The man was allegedly seen taking photos with the device under several women’s skirts.

He was approached by a store manager and tried to run but was apprehended by witnesses until security staff arrived.

Police carried out a search of the man’s Woodvale home and his car and seized items for further investigation.

The man has been charged with committing an indecent act.

He will appear in court at a later date.
