Harvest plans Wray Avenue wine bar

CHRIS THOMSON

APRIL 14, 2011 UPDATE: New venue gets its licence to open Mondays to Saturdays 7am to midnight, and Sundays between 10am and 10pm.

Fremantle’s finest restaurant is set to spin off a wine bar at the eyesore fiveways building on the corner of Wray Avenue and South Terrace.

Clint Nolan, who six years ago opened Harvest in North Fremantle, has applied to open a small bar called Who’s Your Mumma at the busy South Fremantle intersection.

“Like Harvest, this venue will be a reflection of my love for food, wine, art, music and culture encompassed within a warm, relaxed, sophisticated environment,” Mr Nolan’s small bar application promises.

“The aim of the premises is to create a relaxed, modern setting where alcohol, along with food and coffee, can be enjoyed in a civilised, neighbourhood environment with an emphasis on people and conversation – an extension of the local (hotel)’s lounge room if you will.”

If approved as proposed, the venue would open from 7am to midnight six days a week and 7am to 10pm on Sundays.

The small bar would offer breakfast, light lunches, and European-inspired share plates in the afternoons and evenings.

Mr Nolan has applied to sell wine, premium beer, and cocktails based on seasonal fruits.

Who’s Your Mumma would be the second upmarket spinoff venue to inhabit a new eyesore building in the historic South Fremantle area.

The first, the Pickled Fig, opened at South Beach last month.

Congratulations to Harvest. You have managed to create a vibrant small bar with an underground feel. Just what we Freo locals desired. Whoes ya Mumma should be a fabulous success.

Inhabit an eyesore building with an eyesore name. Venuefail.
